(1)  investigate and ascertain the wages of persons employed in
any occupation in the State;

(2)  enter and inspect the place of business or employment of any
employer of employees in any occupation in the State,
COVERED
BY THIS ACT, for the purpose of examining and inspecting any
records of any such employer
PERTAINING ONLY TO WAGES
AND HOURS OF EMPLOYEES, AND MAKE A COPY THERE-

OF; that in any way relate to wages, hours, or other conditions of

employment of any such employee; copy any or all of such records

as he or his authorized representative may deem necessary or appro-
priate;
and question such employees for the purpose of ascertaining
whether the provisions of this act and the regulations issued there-
under have been and are being complied with; and require from such
employer full and correct statements in writing, including sworn

statements with respect to wages, hours, names, addresses and such

other information pertaining to his employees and their employment
as the Commissioner or his authorized representative may
deem
necessary or appropriate
AND REQUIRE THAT SUCH EM-
PLOYER CERTIFY AS TO THE TRUTHFULNESS OF ANY
RECORD OR RECORDS SO COPIED AND SIGN THE SAME, OR,
AT THE OPTION OF SUCH EMPLOYER REQUIRE THAT HE
SUBMIT A FULL AND COMPLETE STATEMENT OR STATE-
MENTS IN WRITING WITH RESPECT TO WAGES, HOURS,
NAMES AND ADDRESSES OF SUCH EMPLOYEES UPON
FORMS PROVIDED OR APPROVED BY THE COMMISSIONER.
ANY RECORD OR RECORDS AND ANY STATEMENT OR
STATEMENTS SO OBTAINED SHALL REMAIN CONFIDEN-
TIAL, EXCEPT FOR THE COMMISSIONER, MEMBERS OF
THE COMMITTEE OR FOR COURT PURPOSES.

85. (a) The Commissioner GOVERNOR OF MARYLAND is
further authorized to appoint a Committee to be composed of not
more than three representatives of employers, an equal number of
representatives of employees, and an equal number of disinterested
persons representing the public, one of whom shall be designated by
the Commissioner
GOVERNOR as chairman, , SUCH REPRESEN-
TATIVES TO BE GEOGRAPHICALLY APPORTIONED OVER
THE STATE. THE GOVERNOR SHALL APPOINT ONE REPRE-
SENTATIVE OF EMPLOYERS, ONE OF EMPLOYEES AND
ONE OF THE PUBLIC, EACH FOR A TWO YEAR TERM, ONE
REPRESENTATIVE OF EACH GROUP FOR A FOUR YEAR
TERM, AND ONE REPRESENTATIVE OF EACH GROUP FOR
A SIX YEAR TERM. APPOINTMENTS SHALL THEREAFTER
BE FOR A TERM OF SIX YEARS, EXCEPT THAT IN THE
EVENT OF ANY VACANCY THE APPOINTMENT SHALL BE
FOR THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF THE HOLDER THEREOF.
The Commissioner after consultation with this WITH THE AP-
PROVAL OF THE Committee, shall make such regulations as may
be appropriate to carry out the purposes of this Act.

(1) These regulations may include, but are not limited to regula-
tions defining and governing outside salesmen; allowances for board,
lodging, or other facilities or services customarily furnished; for
gratuities, in occupations in which gratuities have customarily been
recognized as part of the employee's remuneration, but this allow-
ance is not to exceed $.40 per hour provided the employee received
