CHAPTER 690
(Senate Bill 466)

AN ACT to add a new Section 15B to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Worcester County (1961 Edition, being Article 24 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Worcester County", sub-
title "Beaches", to follow immediately after Section 15A thereof
and to be under the new sub-heading "Shoreline Commission",
creating the Worcester County Shoreline Commission, providing
generally for its members, powers and duties and relating generally
to certain work or construction on or along the shoreline of
Worcester County.; AND PROVIDING ALSO FOR THE RECOR-
DATION OF A PLAT SHOWING SUCH CONSTRUCTION
WORK DONE OR TO BE DONE UNDER THIS ACT.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 15B be and it is hereby added to the Code of
Public Local Laws of Worcester County (1961 Edition, being Article
24 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland) title "Worcester
County", sub-title "Beaches", to follow immediately after Section
15A thereof and to be under the new sub-heading "Shoreline Com-
mission", to read as follows:

Shoreline Commission
15B.

(a) The Worcester County Shoreline Commission is created. It
shall have five
SEVEN members, FIVE OF WHOM SHALL BE
appointed by the Governor to serve for terms of four FIVE years
each, or until their successors are appointed and have taken their
positions.
THE SIXTH MEMBER FROM TIME TO TIME SHALL
BE EX OFFICIO THE CITY SOLICITOR OR CHIEF LEGAL
OFFICER OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF OCEAN
CITY; AND THE SEVENTH MEMBER FROM TIME TO TIME
SHALL BE EX OFFICIO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF WORCESTER COUNTY. From
time to time the members of the Commission shall select their
Chairman. Vacancies
AMONG THE APPOINTIVE MEMBERS
shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired terms. Any person
may be reappointed to the Commission for successive terms. When-
ever there is a vacancy in the Commission, the Governor shall
request nominations therefor from the Board of County Commis-
sioners of Worcester County, the Mayor and City Council of Ocean
City, and the Worcester County Farm Bureau. The Governor shall
appoint a person or persons from the lists thus submitted to him,
and in his discretion at any time he may request additional lists of
nominees. All appointees shall be residents, property owners, and
registered voters of Worcester County. The first members of the

Commission, to serve for four years from June 1, 1965, shall be

M. James Brown, George Bertrand Cropper, Joseph T. Harrison,

John E. Johnson, and William S. Miles, THE FIRST APPOINTIVE
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION AND THEIR RESPECTIVE
TERMS BEGINNING JUNE 1, 1965, SHALL BE M. JAMES
BROWN FOR A TERM OF ONE YEAR, GEORGE BERTRAND
CROPPER FOR A TERM OF TWO YEARS, JOSEPH G. HARRI-
SON FOR A TERM OF THREE YEARS, JOHN E. JOHNSON
