(14) Asking or accepting a bribe for performance of duty.

(15)   Unnecessary use of revolver or club.

(16)  Any other wilful or flagrant violation of rules and regulations
of the Sheriff's Office.

(17)  Any conduct prejudicial to the best interests of the office of
the Sheriff. Any member so suspended or removed may appeal to the
Board of Public Safety.

(h) The County Commissioners of Charles County are hereby
authorized and empowered to provide clerks for the Sheriff of the
county, such clerks to be selected by the Sheriff. They shall have such
duties as may be assigned to them by the Sheriff and to be subject
to his direction and supervision and removable by him at any time,
and to receive such salary as may be fixed by the County Commis-
sioners from time to time. The clerks shall not be deemed a part of
the office of the Sheriff, nor entitled to the benefit of pension laws
for members of the office.

(i) The Sheriff, or a person authorized by him,

(1)  may destroy any contraband article or goods seized by or
delivered to the office, after removing any money contained therein.

(2)  shall sell at public auction all lost, abandoned, unclaimed,
forfeited, undistributed contraband, or stolen property, remaining in
the possession of the office for a period of six (6) months without a
lawful claimant.

(3)   The Sheriff shall pay over to the County Treasurer for the
use of the County, all money removed from contraband, all proceeds
of such sales, and all lost, abandoned, unclaimed, forfeited, or stolen
money remaining in the possession of his office for a period of six (6)
months without a lawful claimant.

(j) The County Commissioners of Charles County shall equip and
arm the office of Sheriff. The Commissioners are hereby authorized,
empowered and directed to purchase equipment including motor
vehicles, motorcycles with or without sidecars, radio receiving and
sending apparatus, both for stationary use and for use in and about
motor vehicles, in such number, together with such other police
equipment, as in the judgment of the Commissioners may seem advis-
able for the use of the Sheriff, and the Commissioners may from
time to time sell, trade or otherwise dispose of motor vehicles, or
motorcycles, or radio or other equipment and purchase new vehicles
and equipment; and all equipment, automobiles, or motorcycles pur-
chased under this sub-section shall be and remain the property of
Charles County, and shall be returned by the members of the Sheriff's
office to whom the equipment may be issued, upon separation, for any
cause, from the office, and the Commissioners shall provide for the
maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and equipment and for the
operation of motor vehicles and equipment including gasoline, oil,
tires, batteries, and accessories for the same.

(k) The Sheriff shall carry and serve all legal papers issued by the
Trial Magistrate of Charles County. All special deputies are hereby
abolished.
The Sheriff is empowered to appoint special officers to aid
in the policing of amusement places and dance halls, but these special
officers shall have no authority other than on the premises to which
they are specifically assigned.
