a practical plumber, which shall operate as full authority to him to
work at, conduct and engage in the said plumbing business for the
period for which such certificate shall be granted, and such certifi-
cate may be called or designated by said Board a "master plumber's
certificate".
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

AN ACT to repeal Section 37 (h) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Sheriffs", sub-
title "Compensation and Duties", and to enact a new Section 37 (h)
in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section repealed; and to
add new Section 263 to the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles
County (1964 Supplement, being Article 9 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland), title "Charles County", sub-title "Sher-
iff", to follow immediately after Section 262 thereof; to change
the salaries of the Sheriff and deputy sheriffs of Charles County,
to create a Board of Public Safety in the county, and to provide for
its powers and duties, and to generally revise the laws relating to
his office and its employees, powers and duties in Charles County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37 (h) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation
and Duties", be and it is hereby repealed and that new Section 37 (h)
be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the
section repealed; and to read as follows:
37.
(h) The Sheriff of Charles County shall receive an annual salary of
seven thousand dollars ($7,000). NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($9,000). Not more than twelve full-time deputies may be appointed
in the county in the manner provided by the local laws of the county
at salaries of not less than five thousand dollars ($5,000) each an-
nually, ; ANY INCREASE THEREIN SHALL BE BASED ON
INCREMENTS OF NOT MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED DOL-
LARS ($100) ANNUALLY, NO SALARY TO EXCEED A MAXI-
MUM OF FIFTY-SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS ($5,600) PER YEAR.
The books of the Sheriff shall be audited annually, and copies shall
be published by the County Commissioners in local newspapers.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That new Section 263 be and it
is hereby added to the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles County
(1964 Supplement, being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Charles County", sub-title "Sheriff", to follow
immediately after Section 262 thereof, and to read as follows:
