which list and notice shall be published in at least two newspapers
printed and published in the county once a week for three successive
weeks prior to the second Monday in [October] November.

On the second Monday in [October] November, the County Treas-
urer shall, at the hour and place named in such advertisement,
proceed to sell all such pieces or parcels of land and premises, begin-
ning with the first on such lists and so on in order, upon which taxes,
interest, costs and fees shall not then have been paid, and shall
continue such sale on each secular day, legal holidays excepted, from
10:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M., until every parcel shall have been offered.
Should the County Treasurer, by reason of illness or other dis-
ability, be unable to attend or conduct such sale in person, a deputy
shall conduct such sale. In such case, the deputy shall make the
affidavit to the report of sales provided for in Section 8-18.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 80
(Senate Bill 302)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 135 (a)
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil County (1961 Edition,
being Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Cecil County", sub-title "County Treasurer", authorizing
the Deputy Treasurer of Cecil County to act in the place of the
Treasurer when the Treasurer is absent or incapacitated.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 135(a) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil Coun-
ty (1961 Edition, being Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Cecil County", sub-title "County Treasurer", be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

135.

(a) The legal and qualified voters of Cecil County shall at the
General State Election, to be held in the year 1954, and every four
years thereafter, elect some person, a resident of said county, to be
Treasurer of Cecil County, whose duty it shall be to collect and dis-
burse, upon the lawful orders of the County Commissioners of the
County, all taxes levied in the County and for this purpose he is
clothed with all the powers possessed by collectors of taxes under the
provisions of the Code of Public General Laws, and the persons
elected to said office under the provisions of this section shall hold
said office for four years from the first Monday in July succeeding
their election. On the expiration of the term of the present Assistant
Treasurer, the Treasurer of Cecil County shall appoint a Deputy
Treasurer, whose duties shall be such as may be assigned to him by
the Treasurer [.] , and who is authorized to act in the Treasurer's
