820                               LAWS OF MARYLAND                       [CH. 602

CHAPTER 601
(Senate Bill 444)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 4 (h),
5 (j) and 9 of Article 62B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), title "Maryland Port Authority", to
modify the meaning of "project" as defined in this Article; to allow
projects of the Maryland Port Authority to be combined for
financing purposes; and to amplify the uses to which surplus
monies of the Maryland Port Authority Fund may be put.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 4 (h), 5 (j) and 9 of Article 62B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Maryland Port
Authority", be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

4.

(h) The word "project" shall mean the existing port facilities or
any port facility [financed under the provisions of this article,]
acquired, constructed, controlled or operated by the Authority, to-
gether with all property, rights, easements and interests appertain-
ing thereto and acquired for the construction or operation thereof.

5.

(j) To issue its revenue bonds as hereinafter provided [;] and to
combine projects for financing purposes;

9. The monies received to the credit of the Maryland Port Au-
thority Fund shall be applied and such monies shall be and hereby are
specifically appropriated to the payment of current expenses of the
Authority. Any surplus of such monies after providing for the pay-
ment of such current expenses may be expended by the Authority
for paying the cost of acquiring, constructing, rehabilitating, en-
larging, extending, reconstructing or improving any project owned
or controlled by the Authority [.] or to be owned or controlled by the
Authority.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety, and having been passed
by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.
