Days for Sale", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

96.

In Charles County, notwithstanding any other provisions of this
sub-title, it shall be unlawful for any licensee or any agent, servant
or employee of said licensee under this sub-title to sell liquors on the
Sabbath Day, commonly called Sunday, except that liquors may be
sold and consumed on Sunday beginning at 12 o'clock noon until
midnight on Sunday;
nor shall any liquors be sold by any licensee
or any agent, servant or employee of said licensee between the hours
of 12 midnight and 6 o'clock A.M. But this section shall not prevent
any sale of beer or light wine under a Class C license or any other
sale of wine or beer containing less than 20% alcohol by volume
on any day including Sunday, or at any time except between the
hours of 12 midnight and 6 o'clock A.M. The barroom where alcoholic
beverages are sold or displayed shall be closed at midnight, and all
bottles and containers used in dispensing alcoholic beverages must be
removed from the tables on or before 1:00 A.M. Any person violating
any of the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon trial and conviction shall be subjected to a
fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) nor more than two hundred
and fifty dollars ($250.00), or may be confined in the county jail or
in the house of correction for not less than sixty days, or both, in the
discretion of the court.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 597
(Senate Bill 668)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 53 of
Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement
Volume), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Deputy Sheriffs", adding
Queen Anne's County to the laws concerning members of certain
fire companies who may be appointed deputy sheriff in their re-
spective political subdivision.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 53 of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Deputy Sher-
iffs", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

53.

The provisions of the foregoing sections in this sub-title shall only
apply to Allegany, Baltimore, Cecil, Queen Anne's and Washington
counties, but the powers conferred by virtue hereof upon members
of fire companies shall not apply or be exercised in incorporated
cities, towns or villages which maintain an organized or regular
police force.
