(9)   Criers in Queen Anne's County shall each receive ten dollars
($10.00) per day.

(10)   Criers in [Queen Anne's and] Caroline [counties] county
shall receive seven dollars and fifty cents ($7.50) per day.

(11)   The several bailiffs and criers shall perform such duties as
may be prescribed by the several laws of the State and by the local
laws of their respective counties.

(12)  Criers in Dorchester County shall receive ten dollars ($10.00)
for each day they attend the Circuit Court.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 56
(Senate Bill 216)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 156 (a)
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County (1963
Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Allegany County", sub-title "Ellerslie Special Tax
Area", to change the procedure in the Ellerslie Special Tax Area
in Allegany County for requesting the county to levy taxes within
the area for electric lights, and to correct an error therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 156 (a) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany
County (1963 Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany County", sub-title "Ellerslie
Special Tax Area", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

156.

(a) The Board of County Commissioners of Allegany County shall
levy and cause to be collected from the property owners, at the time
of the County Tax Levy for the year 1963 or any succeeding year,
within this described area of Ellerslie as created in this sub-title,
such amounts not exceeding fifteen cents on each one hundred dollars'
worth of assessable property in Ellerslie as may be requested by
[a majority vote of the residential real estate owners of legal age,
who are assessed as owners of real estate in such area and are
present at a meeting called for this purpose by the Citizens' Com-
mittee hereinafter provided for, notice of which meeting shall have
been mailed to all such resident owners at least two weeks in advance
of the meeting] the Citizens' Committee hereinafter provided for.
The request shall be approved by a majority of all the members
comprising the Committee.
Such taxes shall be collected as all County
taxes are collected and shall be paid over by the Board of County
Commissioners to the Treasurer of the Citizens' Committee of Ellers-
lie, to be selected from among their number by a majority of the
members of the Citizens' Committee, or by their [assessor] succes-
sors
to be selected as herein provided. The Treasurer selected by the
