Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 97B (a) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Justices of the Peace," sub-
title "Trial Magistrates System," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
97B.
(a) In Charles County the committing magistrates shall be avail-
able at all times to carry out their duties which shall mean that at
least one committing magistrate shall be available for the twenty-
four hour period of each day. The committing magistrates shall at
all times exercise their duties under the supervision of the trial
magistrate of the county. In the event a committing magistrate must
serve on a Sunday or legal State holiday, he shall be allowed compen-
satory time off to be taken on a weekday of the magistrate's choice,
if practical.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

(House Bill 787)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (i) of
Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Supplement),
title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's
Attorney," to increase the salary of the State's Attorney, the
Assistant State's Attorney and the Secretary to the State's Attor-
ney of Charles County, and to define the powers of the Assistant
State's Attorney in Charles County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

(1) In Charles County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is [six
thousand dollars ($6,000)] ten thousand dollars ($10,000).
(2) The State's Attorney may appoint an Assistant State's At-
torney and a secretary. The Assistant State's Attorney's salary is
