after January 1, 1967, receive no compensation, expenses or other
payments for membership on the Board.
Each appointed member of
the county roads board, after January 1, 1967, when acting in his
official capacity as a member of such board, shall receive traveling
expenses at the rate of ten cents per mile, in addition to the sums
provided by this section.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the increase in compensa-
tion provided in Section 2 of this Act shall only be effective with the
next term of office of county commissioners.

Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 424
(House Bill 763)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 12-13 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1963
Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of Public Laws of Maryland,
title "Prince George's County," subtitle, "Circuit Court," sub-
heading "Stenographers," as amended by Chapter 548 of 1961,
relating to the number, qualifications and salary of the secretaries
appointed by the Judges of the Seventh Judicial Circuit resident
in Prince George's County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 12-13 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1963 Edition), being Article 17 of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County," subtitle "Circuit
Court," subheading "Stenographers," as amended by Chapter 548
of 1961, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted as follows:

12-13.

Any judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit resident in Prince
George's County is hereby authorized to appoint a competent secre-
tary who shall have had some previous experience in secretarial work,
involving duties that demonstrate the ability to [take rapid dictation,
typing] make rapid and accurate transcripts, and [the] to exercise
[of] independent judgment. Said secretary shall hold his or her
position at the pleasure of the judge by whom he is appointed and
shall receive compensation therefor in the following manner:

The salary for any such secretary shall be fixed in the discretion
of the County Commissioners of Prince George's County at a rate
not exceeding [$5,500.00] seven thousand five hundred ($7500.)
SIX THOUSAND ($6000.) per annum. Such compensation shall
be levied annually by the County Commissioners of said county,
shall be paid as are the salaries of other county employees, and
charged to the expenses of the Circuit Court of Prince George's
County.
