CHAPTER 416
(House Bill 773)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 481
through 494, inclusive, of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1957 Edition and 1964 Supplement), title "Health,"
subtitle "Chiropody," changing the name of the Board of Chiropody
Examiners to be the Board of Podiatry Examiners, changing cer-
tain references in the laws, regulations, ordinances, resolutions,
and books of accounts of this State and of its political subdivisions
from the term "chiropody" to the term "podiatry" and relating
generally to the practice of chiropody and of podiatry in this State.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 481 through 494, inclusive, of Article 43 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1964 Supplement), title
"Health," subtitle "Chiropody," be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

[Chiropody] Podiatry

481.

All persons now practicing [chiropody] podiatry, or who shall
hereafter begin to practice [chiropody] podiatry in the State of Mary-
land shall possess the qualifications required by this subtitle. It shall
be unlawful for any person to designate himself or herself or his
or her occupation by the use of any words or letters or trade diplomas
calculated to lead others to believe that he or she is a [chiropodist]
podiatrist or foot specialist unless he or she is duly licensed as pro-
vided for in this subtitle. All persons licensed under this subtitle
shall designate themselves as [chiropodist] podiatrist and use no
other appended titles, such as foot specialist, orthopedist, surgeon,
etc., except the title of chiropodist. All licenses issued by the Board
shall be issued to individual persons. It shall be unlawful for any
[chiropodist] podiatrist licensed in this State to practice under the
name of any entity of any kind or character or any name except his
or her true name under which the license is issued.

482.

There shall be established a Board of [Chiropody] Podiatry Ex-
aminers for the State of Maryland. This Board shall consist of four
members whose duty it shall be to carry out the purposes and enforce
the provisions of this subtitle. They shall be selected by the Board
of Medical Examiners of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of
Maryland at its annual meeting (in June), three of the said four
members to be selected from among the members of the Maryland
Pedic Association, and one from among the members of said Board
of Medical Examiners of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of
Maryland; and each appointee is, immediately after his or her elec-
tion, to be furnished with a certificate thereof by the said Board
electing him or her. The term of office of the four members first
appointed shall be for one year, two years, three years and four years
respectively. The Board of Medical Examiners of the Medical and
Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland shall designate which of said mem-
