way Need Study" of the State Roads Commission to show the need
of an additional interchange and crossing of U.S. Route 50 (John
Hanson Highway) in Prince George's County under certain condi-
tions.
Whereas, the Landover area in Prince George's County is the site
of a multi-million dollar industrial complex and the major food
distribution center for the Metropolitan Washington area housing
such concerns as Safeway, Giant, Grand Union, Briggs and others,
and,
Whereas, present access to this area is inadequate and there are
plans for immediate extensive expansion and growth of this industrial
complex dependent upon better access to Route 50 and thereby to
other expressways, and,
Whereas, the County Commissioners of Prince George's County
are desirous of extending Cabin Branch Drive to U. S. Route 50 and
providing a new interchange and crossing of Route 50 so this indus-
trial complex will expand and be adequately served, and,
Whereas, this new interchange with Cabin Branch Drive was
omitted from the "Twenty Year Highway Need Study" of the State
Roads Commission and the County desires to include this project in
said "Twenty Year Highway Need Study".
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 211 H-1 be and it is hereby added to Article 89 B
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "State
Roads," to follow immediately after Section 211 H thereof, and to
read as follows:
211 H-1.
The official "Twenty Year Highway Need Study" of the State Roads
Commission is hereby amended to show the need of an additional
interchange over U.S. Route 50 in Prince George's County at the place
where the proposed extension of Cabin Branch Drive (a county road)
intersects with U.S. Route 50.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

Agency or officer thereof to implement in the State of Maryland
