(House Bill 784)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (s)
of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Supple-
ment), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle
"State's Attorney," to provide for an Assistant State's Attorney in
St. Mary's County to be appointed by the County State's Attorney
and to be paid a salary to be determined by the County Commis-
sioners.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (s) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact,"
subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

40.

(s) In St. Mary's County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is
three thousand dollars ($3,000).

(2)   The State's Attorney's allowance for expenses incidental to
his office is thirty-six hundred dollars ($3,600).

(3)   The State's Attorney may appoint an assistant State's Attor-
ney. The assistant State's Attorney shall be paid an annual salary
to be determined by the County Commissioners.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1965.

uty sheriff of Baltimore County.
