Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 98 of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Caroline County," subtitle "County
Commissioners," as said section was last amended by Chapter 1021
of the Acts of 1945, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
98.
The County Commissioners of Caroline County shall each receive,
in lieu of the per diem and mileage, an annual salary of [seven hun-
dred and fifty dollars ($750.00)] eighteen hundred dollars ($1,800.00)
payable quarterly, and all necessary traveling expenses when travel-
ing on county business outside of the county.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act shall
be construed or applied to increase the salary of the members of the
Board of County Commissioners of Caroline County who are in office
on the effective date of this Act, for the remainder of the terms in
which they are then serving. The increased compensation shall be-
come effective at the beginning of the term of the County Commis-
sioners elected to office in the month of November 1966.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That subject to the provisions
of Section 2 of this Act, this Act shall take effect on June 1, 1965.

(House Bill 503)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3 (1) of
Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "County Commissioners," subtitle "General Provisions," to
raise the monetary value of purchases that the County Commis-
sioners of Harford County can make without the necessity of
competitive bids.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3 (1) of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "County Commissioners," subtitle "General
Provisions," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

(1) To provide for competitive bidding for any county work
and the making and awarding of contracts for the purchase of
materials and supplies in excess of $2,000 $1,000 in Harford County
and in all other counties $500 and to require bonds in connection with
said work or contracts, whenever deemed proper; and if no bids are
submitted in response to any calls therefor, to place the order
as in their discretion they deem best.
