counts audited by a certified public accountant, to be selected by
said Commission, and paid by said Commission, and publish [a full,]
true and [itemized account,] concise statements, under oath, of its
[receipts and disbursements] income and expenses and a balance
sheet, taken as of the last day of its fiscal year,
in a newspaper or
newspapers
published in said Howard County.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 272
(House Bill 372)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 175 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Calvert County (1963 Edition,
being Article 5 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Calvert County," subtitle "Fire Companies and Fair Board,"
last amended by Chapter 199 of the Acts of 1961, to change the
amounts the County Commissioners of Calvert County are author-
ized to appropriate the various fire departments and rescue squads
in the county.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 175 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Calvert County
(1963 Edition, being Article 5 of the Code of Public Laws of Mary-
land), title "Calvert County," subtitle "Fire Companies and Fair
Board," last amended by Chapter 199 of the Acts of 1961, be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

175.

The County Commissioners of Calvert County are hereby author-
ized and directed to appropriate annually, [a sum to be determined
by them of not less than five thousand dollars ($5,000) nor more
than eight thousand dollars ($8,000) to each of the following: The
Calvert County Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., The North Beach
Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., and The Calvert Volunteer Rescue
Squad, Inc.,] to be distributed on a semi-annual basis, the correspond-
ing amounts to each of the following: (1) North Beach Volunteer
Fire Department, Inc., six thousand dollars ($6,000); (2) Calvert
County Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., six thousand dollars ($6,-
000); (3) Second District Rescue Squad, Inc., four thousand dollars
($4,000); (4) a rescue squad to be incorporated in the Third Election
District, four thousand dollars ($4,000); (5) Calvert Volunteer Res-
cue Squad and Fire Division, Inc., ten thousand dollars ($10,000), six
thousand dollars ($6,000) to be advanced to the Fire Division and
four thousand dollars ($4,000) to be advanced to the Rescue Squad.
In addition to the amounts above stated, in an emergency and subject
to the approval of the remaining companies above listed, a company
may request and the County Commissioners may grant additional
