be and it is hereby added to the said Article and subtitle of the Code,
to follow immediately after Section 11 thereof, and to read as follows:
11A.
The County Commissioners of every county in the State are hereby
authorized to acquire by purchase, gift, devise, bequest, condemna-
tion, or otherwise, any property, or any interest therein, of any kind
needed for any public purpose, and to erect buildings thereon for the
benefit of the county, and to sell at public or private sale any such
property when no longer needed for public use, but no property shall
be sold until the sale has been advertised for at least twenty (20) days
prior to the date of sale. Any proceedings for acquisition by con-
demnation shall be taken pursuant to Article 33A of this Code, as
amended from time to time.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 206
(House Bill 82)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 8 of
Article 17 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1964 Supplement),
title "Clerks of the Courts," subtitle "General Duties of Clerks," to
require the clerks of the various courts of this state to maintain
their offices for the transaction of business uninterrupted through-
out the day AND TO ELIMINATE SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
IN HOWARD COUNTY.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 8 of Article 17 of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
(1964 Supplement), title "Clerks of the Courts," subtitle "General
Duties of Clerks," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
8.
Every clerk shall attend at his office for the transaction of the
business thereof from the scheduled hour for opening to the scheduled
hour for closing thereof, without interruption, every day except
Sundays and legal holidays either in person or by deputy, unless pre-
vented by sickness, accident or necessity, except that any circuit court
may in its discretion direct that the office of the clerk of the court of
such county shall be closed for the transaction of business on Satur-
days. Provided, however, that in Howard County the clerk shall
attend at his office as aforesaid at least thirty-eight hours in each
week, legal holidays excepted. In Baltimore City, the Supreme Bench
may at its discretion direct that all offices of such clerks shall be
closed for the transaction of business on Saturdays.
