J. MILLARD TAWES, Governor 17
sub-title "County Commissioners", as said section was last amended
by Chapter 23 of the Acts of 1935, repealing a local law of Caro-
line County with respect to the power of the County Commis-
sioners to borrow certain sums of money.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 106GG of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Caroline County", sub-title
"County Commissioners", as said section was last amended by
Chapter 23 of the Acts of 1935, be and it is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 11
(Senate Bill 70)
AN ACT to repeal Section 144 of Article 6 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Caroline County",
sub-title "Denton"; and to repeal Section 219 of said Article, sub-
title "Federalsburg", repealing provisions in the municipal char-
ters of Denton and Federalsburg which purport to require the
County Commissioners of Caroline County to make certain pay-
ments to these two municipal corporations.
Whereas, in the Charters of the Towns of Denton and of Fed-
eralsburg in Caroline County, there are provisions requiring the
County Commissioners of Caroline County to make annual payments
to the two municipal corporations; and
Whereas, in a ruling of the State Law Department, it has been
held that the General Assembly may enact legislation on such a
subject despite the workings of the municipal home rule amend-
ment; and
Whereas, these provisions in the Charters of Denton and of Fed-
eralsburg should not be continued with the purported right of the
towns to deal with such legislation; now therefore,
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 144 of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Caroline County", sub-title "Den-
ton", and Section 219 of said Article, sub-title "Federalsburg", be
and they are hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.
Approved February 18, 1965.
