11 12. Separability.

If any provision of this subheading, or the application thereof to
any person or circumstances, is held invalid, the remainder of the
subheading and the application of such provision to persons or cir-
cumstances other than those as to which it is held invalid, shall not
be affected thereby. The powers conferred by this subheading shall
be in addition and supplemental to the powers conferred by any other
law.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

(House Bill 1105)

AN ACT to add eleven new sections to the Charter of the City
of Bowie, as said Charter is codified in the Code of Public Local
Laws of Prince George's County (1963 Edition), being Article
17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince
George's County," subtitle "Bowie," said new sections to be under
the new subheading "Redevelopment—Urban Renewal," and to be
codified as part of the said Charter, authorizing the City of
Bowie to carry out certain urban renewal and redevelopment
projects, generally defining the powers, terms and conditions ap-
plicable to these projects, and relating generally to redevelopment
and urban renewal within the limits of the City of Bowie.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That eleven new sections be and they are hereby added to the
Charter of the City of Bowie, as said Charter is codified in the
Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1963 Edition),
being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Prince George's County," subtitle "Bowie," said new sections
to be under the new subheading "Redevelopment—Urban Renewal,"
and to be codified as part of the said Charter, and all to real as
follows:

1. Definitions.

(a)    The following terms wherever used or referred to in this
subheading shall have the following meanings, unless a different
meaning is clearly indicated by the context:

(b)    "Federal Government" shall include the United States of
America or any agency or instrumentality, corporate or otherwise,
of the United States of America.

(c)    "Slum Area" shall mean any area where dwellings pre-
dominate which, by reason of depreciation, overcrowding, faulty
arrangement or design, lack of ventilation, light or sanitary facilities,
