CHAPTER 840
(House Bill 993)

AN ACT to repeal Section 210 (b) of Article 66½ and to enact new
Section 210 (b) in lieu thereof, to stand in place of the section
repealed and to add new Section 210 (c) to Article 66½ of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), to follow immediately
after Section 210 (b), title "Motor Vehicles," subtitle "Operation
of Vehicles Upon Highways," providing that no driver, timekeeper
or flagman shall participate in a speed contest on any public street,
road or highway in this State. To come within this prohibition,
the speed contest need not be for any prize or wager.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 210 (b) of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land, (1957 Edition), is hereby repealed and new Section 210 (b)
enacted in lieu thereof, to stand in place of the section repealed, and
that new Section 210 (c) be and it is hereby added, to follow im-
mediately after Section 210 (b), all to read as follows:

210.

(b)    Driver, Timekeeper or Flagman.No person shall participate
as a Armor, timekeeper or flagman in any unauthorized race or speed
contest on the public streets, roads or highways in the State of
Maryland. The race or speed contest need not be for a prize, reward
or wager to come within the meaning of this section.

(c)    Penalty.Any person violating these provisions shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and subject, upon conviction, to a
fine of not less than twenty-five ($25.00) dollars nor more than five
hundred ($500.00) dollars or up to one year imprisonment or both
fine and imprisonment.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 841
(House Bill 1038)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 46 of
Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement
Volume), title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle "Process and Prac-
tice," providing for an automatic expiration date of peace bonds
issued by trial magistrates or People's Court judges in counties
of the Seventh Judicial Circuit, and providing for appealability of
such bonds.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 46 of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle
