Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 238 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Cumulative Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title
"State Department of Assessments and Taxation", be and it hereby
is repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
238. Salaries in Baltimore County—Assessors and assessors'
aides.
(a) Baltimore County, Maryland, shall be authorized and directed
to levy and pay each assessor of Baltimore County a salary as speci-
fied in Standard Salary Grade [XXIII] XXVI as established by the
Personnel and Salary Advisory Board of Baltimore County, Mary-
land, from time to time, including increments for time served and
longevity specified for such grade, provided, however, that service
of assessors as such prior to June 30, [1963,] 1965, shall be taken
into consideration in determining the salary payable to each such
assessor and provided further that the portion of said salary to be
paid by the State shall be limited to the amount provided in the
schedule set forth in Section 237 of this article.
(b) Baltimore County, Maryland, shall be authorized and directed
to levy and pay to each assessor's aide of Baltimore County a salary
as specified in Standard Salary Grade [XVIII] XXI as established
by the Personnel and Salary Advisory Board of Baltimore County,
Maryland, from time to time, including increments for time served
and longevity specified for such grade, provided, however, that
service of assessors' aides as such prior to June 30, [1963,] 1965,
shall be taken into consideration in determining the salary payable
to each such assessor's aide and provided further that the portion of
said salary to be paid by the State shall be limited to the amount
provided in the schedule set forth in Section 237 of this article.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That it is not intended that
reference to Standard Salary Grades established by the Personnel
and Salary Advisory Board of Baltimore County, Maryland, should
subject assessors or assessors' aides to the jurisdiction of the Per-
sonnel and Salary Advisory Board of Baltimore County, Maryland,
but is merely for the purpose of establishing the compensation pay-
able to such employees.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1965.
