fails to obtain other insurance within not less than fifteen days after
a cancellation notice has been mailed to
MORE THAN FIF-
TEEN DAYS AFTER A CANCELLATION NOTICE HAS BEEN
SENT BY CERTIFIED MAIL TO THE LAST KNOWN ADDRESS
OF the insured by the insurer or its receiver or conservator.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety and having been passed
by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 36
(Senate Bill 27)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 152B,
152E (a), 152J (a) and 152K (a) and (b) of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Howard County (1957 Edition, being Article 14 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, as amended ENACTED
by Chapter 597 of the Laws of Maryland 1963, title "Howard
County," subtitle "People's Court of Howard County," and adding
a new Subsection (d) to Section 152H thereof, RELATING TO
THE QUALIFICATIONS OF JUDGES OF THE PEOPLE'S
COURT OF HOWARD COUNTY, increasing PROVIDING FOR
the salaries of the Chief Judges of the People's Court, amending
the salary provisions relating to other People's Court employees
and authorizing the Judges to SUSPEND THE IMPOSITION OF
A SENTENCE, TO grant probation without finding a verdict. , OR
TO MAKE CONDITIONS OF SUSPENSION OF SENTENCE
AND PROBATION.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 152B, 152E (a), 152J (a) and 152K (a) and (b) of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Howard County (1957 Edition, being
Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), as amended
ENACTED by Chapter 597 of the Laws of Maryland 1963, title
"Howard County," subtitle "People's Court of Howard County," be
and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and
that a new Subsection (d), be and it is hereby added to Section 152H
thereof, and all to read as follows:

152B.

NO PERSON SHALL BE QUALIFIED TO STAND FOR ELEC-
TION OR TO HOLD THE OFFICE OF JUDGE OF THE PEOPLE'S
COURT OF HOWARD COUNTY UNLESS HE POSSESSES THE
FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

(A) HE IS AT LEAST THIRTY (30) YEARS OF AGE AND
LESS THAN SEVENTY (70) YEARS OF AGE, AND

(B) A MEMBER OF THE BAR OF THE STATE OF MARY-
LAND, AND
