127A (B) THEREOF; AND TO REPEAL AND RE-ENACT,
WITH AMENDMENTS, SECTION 127A (C) OF SAID AR-
TICLE AND SUB-TITLE RELATING GENERALLY TO THE
TERMS, MEETINGS, AND ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES
OF THE HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION OF CHARLES
COUNTY.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 127A (b) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles
County (1957 Edition, being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Charles County", sub-title "Human Rela-
tions", as enacted by Chapter 543 of the Laws of 1963, be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and that new
sub-sections (b-1) and (b-2), be and they are hereby added to the
said section to follow immediately after Section 127A (b) thereof,
and all to read as follows: SECTION 127A (B-1) BE AND IT IS
HEREBY ADDED TO SAID ARTICLE AND SUB-TITLE TO
FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY AFTER SECTION 127A (B) THERE-
OF; AND THAT SECTION 127A (C) OF SAID ARTICLE AND
SUB-TITLE BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY REPEALED
AND RE-ENACTED, WITH AMENDMENTS, AND ALL TO
READ AS FOLLOWS:
127A.
(b) The organization and particular functions of the Commission
shall be as the county commissioners may prescribe. The Governor
shall appoint the members of the Commission [from time to time,]
in such number as the county commissioners may determine shall
compose the Commission for terms of four years each. The members
shall be representative of the various segments of the community
and shall serve without compensation. [The tenure of the members
of the Commission is at the pleasure of the Governor.] The Commis-
sion shall file with the county commissioners no less than annually a
comprehensive report covering its activities.
(b-1) Each member shall receive a salary of $500.00 per year plus
actual travel expenses.
(b 2) If any member fails to attend at least 50% of the regularly
scheduled meetings of the Commission in any one calendar year, he
shall be removed and the Governor shall appoint a replacement for
him.
(C) THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ARE AUTHORIZED
TO PROVIDE ALL ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TO THE COM-
MISSION NECESSARY TO PROPERLY EFFECTUATE THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION, AND TO ANNUALLY AP-
PROPRIATE TO THIS END AN AMOUNT NOT EXCEEDING
FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.).
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1964.
