Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," and to enact a new
Section 40(c) in lieu thereof to stand in the place of the section so
repealed, providing for a personal expense allowance and the pay-
ment of additional compensation for the State's Attorney of Anne
Arundel County, for an increase in the minimum salaries of the
deputy State's Attorney and assistant State's Attorneys of Anne
Arundel County, for an increase in the number of assistant State's
Attorneys for Anne Arundel County, and for the appointment of a
clerk for the office of the State's Attorney of Anne Arundel County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40(c) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1963 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact,"
subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby repealed and that new
Section 40 (c) be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof to stand in
the place of the section so repealed, and to read as follows:

(c) Anne Arundel CountyIn Anne Arundel County, (1) the
State's Attorney's salary is twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00) an-
nually. (2) The State's Attorney may appoint a deputy State's At-
torney whose salary shall be as set by the County Commissioners or
by the County Council of Anne Arundel County, but not less than
eight thousand dollars ($8,000.00) annually. (3) The State's At-
torney may appoint two assistant State's Attorneys, each of whose
salaries shall be as set by the County Commissioners or by the County
Council of Anne Arundel County, but not less than six thousand five
hundred dollars ($6,500.00) annually. (4) The State's Attorney
may appoint one clerk whose salary shall be as set by the County
Commissioners or by the County Council of Anne Arundel County,
but not less than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) annually.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the increase in salary
herein provided for the State's Attorney of Anne Arundel County
shall first take effect at the beginning of the term of the State's
Attorney who is elected to that position in the month of November,
1966; and, until the beginning of the term of the State's Attorney
who is elected to that position in the month of November, 1966, the
State's Attorney who is in office on June 1st, 1964, for the remainder
of the term in which he then is serving shall receive an annual sal-
ary of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) and, in addition, an annual
expense allowance for his personal expenses incidental to his duties
of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00).

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1964.
