the Commission may reduce the deer
population in areas suffering from
crop damage after thorough investi-
gation shows that such action is justi-
fied. The method of reducing the deer
population shall be at the discretion
of the Commission except that wher-
ever feasible trapping shall be pre-
ferred. The deer which may be taken
under this provision shall be disposed
of by the Director of the Commission
as he may deem advisable and for the
best interests of the State. In Dor-
chester, St. Mary's, Somerset, Wico-
mico and Worcester counties, there
shall be a three-day open season for
antlerless deer including the Satur-
day immediately prior to November
15 of each year, as established from
time to time by the Commission for
residents and landowners of said
counties only and no permits are re-
quired for this privilege in said coun-
ties. In Allegany County, there shall
be no period for hunting antlerless
deer unless the member of the Com-
mission from the geographical sec-
tion embracing the county agrees to
such a period.]

May be hunted, pursued, or killed for
a period of nine
EIGHT hunting days
beginning on that Monday in Novem-

ber or December nearest in time to,

or on, December 1, FRIDAY IMME-
DIATELY FOLLOWING THANKS-
GIVING in each and every year.

Antlerless deer                        The Commission may prescribe an

open season for antlerless deer, by
special permit, of not more than three

days duration to begin in the week

immediately following the week con-

taining the last day of the male deer

season, at such times and in such
counties as the Commission shall in
its discretion prescribe by regulation;
SAID ANTLERLESS DEER SEA-
SON TO BE CONCLUDED ON THE
THIRD SATURDAY IN DECEM-
BER and the Commission may con-
sider, among other factors, the deer
population surveys, crop damage, kill
of previous seasons, car kill, and size,
weight, health, age and doe-fawn
ratios of deer in the said counties in
reaching such decision.
