performance of the duties of funeral director and embalmer. He
must have had at least two years' practical experience as an appren-
tice funeral director and embalmer, under a licensed funeral director
and embalmer in this State. As an apprentice he must have assisted
at not fewer than twenty funerals and must have assisted in embalm-
ing not fewer than twenty dead bodies. He must also have registered
as an apprentice with the State Board of Funeral Directors and
Embalmers of Maryland at the time he began his apprenticeship;
and he must have a high school education or the equivalent thereof
and must be a graduate of a regular recognized college of embalm-
ing whose course of instruction is not less than [nine] twelve months
comprising [840] 1120 hours of study.

(f) A corporation is not permitted to operate any branch estab-
lishment under this sub-title unless the branch establishment was in
operation on June 1, 1945. OCTOBER 1, 1964.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1964. OCTOBER 1, 1964.

CHAPTER 79
(Senate Bill 141)
AN ACT to add new Section 64 to Article 89B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1963 Supplement), title
"State Roads", to follow immediately after Section 63 thereof and
to be under the new sub-title "Industrial Crossings", to authorize
the legislative body of any county, municipality or Baltimore City
to establish industrial crossings of any State roads with the
advice and approval of the State Roads Commission, relating to
the use and revocation of such crossings, to payment of expense
of such crossings, exempting vehicles using such crossings from
certain motor vehicle laws and relating to industrial crossings
of roads.
Whereas, It is hereby declared to be the legislative policy to pro-
mote new industry and to encourage the growth of existing industry
in the State of Maryland; and
Whereas, Our method of encouraging industrial growth is to
permit industrial crossings over certain public roads in the State in
order that industries might move their material and equipment from
one segment of their property to the other with the minimum of
effort and expense; now, therefore,
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 64 be and it is hereby added to Article 89B of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1963 Supplement),
title "State Roads", to follow immediately after Section 63 thereof,
