CHAPTER 510
(House Bill 770)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 264 (g)
of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1962 Supple-
ment), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Fish and Fisheries,"
subheading, "Part 2. Tidal Waters," relating to the parts of the
Chesapeake Bay in which stakes used in fishing.with nets may be
left in the water, and relating to fishing with nets, and correcting
references therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 264 (g) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1962 Supplement), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Fish
and Fisheries," subheading, "Part 2. Tidal Waters," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

264.

(g) It shall be the duty of each licensee to maintain his stakes
in good condition, and promptly to remove and renew any stakes
that may be unsound, broken or liable to go adrift. [Except for
that portion of the Chesapeake Bay lying south of the Bay Bridge
and north from a line drawn due easterly from No Point to Hoopers
Island Light House, it] It shall be unlawful to permit or allow to
remain in the water any pound or net stake for a period greater
than thirty days following the removal of the net [or twine] from
each stake, or the discontinuance of fishing of said nets. If the
licensee does not comply with the provision of this subsection, the
[Commission] Department shall immediately notify the licensee by
registered mail to remove the stakes within thirty days after receipt
of notice. In the event the licensee fails to comply with said notice
the [Commission] Department shall remove any stakes remaining
and shall immediately recall and cancel for a period of two years
all fishing licenses of the person failing to comply with the notice.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 511
(House Bill 772)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 251 of
Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Fish and Fisheries," sub-
heading "Part 1. General Provisions," relating to the offense of
operating boats through lawfully placed and marked fishing nets,
and providing penalties for violations.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 251 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland
