AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 530 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1953
Edition, being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Prince George's County," subtitle "Dogs,"
amending the local laws of Prince George's County in order to
remove from the laws concerning dogs, an obsolete reference to
the payments of fees to informers.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 530 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County (1953 Edition, being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments to read as follows:
530.
If any person or persons directly or indirectly fail or refuse to
procure a tag for any dog owned by him, her or them, or for any
dog in the possession of, or over which said person may have the
care or custody, on or before the first day of September in each year,
said person shall upon conviction thereof, be fined not more than
Twenty-five Dollars ($25) and costs of the prosecution, and shall be
committed to the Prince George's County jail until said fine and
costs are paid for a period not to exceed thirty days [; one-half the
fine imposed and collected shall be paid to the informer, and any
person, other than the sheriff, or any deputy sheriff or any constable
at large, may be entitled to claim and receive such informer's fee,
upon due proof that he is entitled to receive the same; and even
though said person as the informer may be the duly authorized
collector of dog tax,]. It shall be the duty of the sheriff, and any
deputy sheriff, and all constables to enforce the provisions of this
subtitle; and each of said officers are specially charged to make
diligent inquiry and investigate the violations of this subtitle.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.
