the public interest, and except as herein provided, no contract or
purchase of such board shall be set aside on the ground of conflict
of interest.
(e) Any person who violates any of the provisions of this section
is guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction shall be punished by a
fine of not more than $1,000.00, or imprisonment for not more than
one year, and in addition, it shall be obligatory upon the State
Superintendent of Schools of the State of Maryland forthwith to
cause such convicted person to be removed from his office.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 37(h) (2)
and (3) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Edition and 1962 Supplement), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Com-
pensation and Duties", to change requirements for committing
magistrates as personnel under the office of the Sheriff of Charles
County. EMPLOYEES AND COMMITTING MAGISTRATES IN
THE OFFICE OF THE SHERIFF OF CHARLES COUNTY.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 37(h) (2) and (3) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1962 Supplement), title "Sheriffs",
sub-title "Compensation and Duties", be and they are hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
37(h) (2) The County Commissioners of Charles County are
hereby authorized to provide such equipment and other personnel
as may be requested by the Sheriff for law enforcement at an annual
cost of not less than $25,000 and such additional sums as the Com-
missioners deem necessary. Such equipment and personnel shall
consist of
(a) A Not more than four new automobiles.
(b) B Radio equipment; not [more than four radio operators and
committing magistrates] less than two deputy sheriffs and a radio
operator.
(c) C Operating expenses of automobiles, radio equipment, office
supplies and other necessary equipment and supplies.
(d) D Insurance.
(h) (3) The Sheriff's office shall be open twenty-four hours a day
every day, including Sundays and legal holiday. At least two deputies
[,] and a radio operator [and/or committing magistrate] shall be
on duty at all times.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.
