J. MILLARD TAWES, Governor                      581

Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County (1955 Edition,
being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Allegany County", sub-title "Insane Asylum", amending the
local laws of Allegany County concerning the personnel and the
operation of the insane asylum therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 270 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany Coun-
ty (1955 Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Allegany County", sub-title "Insane Asylum",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

270. The County Commissioners shall have full power to appoint
[such managers, keepers, superintendents and physicians thereafter
as may be deemed necessary to provide for their compensation,] a
superintendent and such employees as may be necessary to operate
said institution and
to prescribe rules for the government thereof, to
enter into agreements for the receiption of inmates thereof; and
fix and establish from time to time rates at which inmates not de-
pendent on the County shall be received, to provide for the purchase
of all supplies and furniture for such buildings, additions and re-
pairs as may be in their judgment necessary from time to time [;] .
([they shall meet at and inspect said asylum at least once in each
month, shall audit the books of said asylum monthly, and upon their
approval of the bills and accounts against said institutions; the same
shall be paid by the draft of the Clerk of the Commissioners, counter-
signed by the President of the Board on the Treasurer of Allegany
County.]

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 357

(Senate Bill 480)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 273 and 274 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Allegany County (1955 Edition, being Article 1 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany County",
sub-title "Insane Asylum", repealing obsolete local laws of Allegany
County concerning the conveyance of property and the acquisition
of other property by the County Commissioners, all for the pur-
poses of the County Home, Sylvan Retreat, and the Pest House.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 273 and 274 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Al-
legany County (1955 Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany County", sub-title "Insane
Asylum", be and they are hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.
