facts in the vital records are called to this HIS attention; he shall
truly ascertain such missing facts of record and make a certified
statement thereof to the State Board of Health and Mental Hygiene
[, and enter the correction in red ink upon his record]. The [county
registrar] local health officer shall further inquire into and investi-
gate violations or suspected violations of this sub-title and shall
furnish to the State Board of Health and Mental Hygiene full data
and information regarding the same.
(c) When a birth, death or fetal death record is corrected by the
State Board of Health and Mental Hygiene, a notice of such correction
shall be sent to the appropriate local health officer. He shall enter
the correction in red ink upon his record. In any question arising from
discrepancy between the record of the State Board of Health and
Mental Hygiene and the record of the local health officer, the record
of the State Board of Health and Mental Hygiene shall be considered
correct.
[25. Payment of fees to registrars.
(a) Amount of fees.—The local registrar shall receive for per-
forming the services required under this subtitle the following fees:
(1) For each proper and correct certificate of birth or death as
provided in this sub-title, except those transmitted to him by any
deputy local registrar, and for each monthly report rendered to the
State Board of Health reporting that no certificates have been re-
ceived, the sum of fifty cents to be paid by the county upon warrant
of the county commissioners, and in the case where such certificates
are transmitted by the deputy local registrars such deputy local
registrar shall receive such fee instead. Provided, however, that in
Charles County and Washington County the local registrar shall be
entitled to receive the sum of $1.00 for each birth or death certificate
where said certificates are issued in compliance with this sub-title.
(2) For each transcript of a birth or death certificate as provided
in Section 16 of this article copied and transmitted by him to the
county registrar, the local registrar shall receive the sum of ten cents,
to be paid by the county upon warrant of the county commissioners.
(b) Certification of number of fees received.—The State Board of
Health shall certify to the county commissioners of each county
annually, or more often, the number of properly executed certificates
of birth and death received from each local or deputy local registrar
for which fees are provided by this section.
(c) Certification on payment voucher of total amount due.—The
State Board of Health shall certify on each payment voucher the total
amount owing to each local or deputy local registrar for that county
for the period covered by such voucher, provided that said Board shall
certify separately the number of incomplete, defective or belated
certificates, and for such incomplete, defective or belated certificates
a fee shall be certified equal to one half the amount of compensation
provided in this section for prompt, proper and correct certificates
and records of birth and death.]
[26] 25. Certified copies.—Birth, Death, Marriage
