Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," abolishing the
office of special investigator to the State's Attorney of Cecil County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40(h) (3) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1962 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys
in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 201
(House Bill 16)

AN ACT to add new Section SECTIONS 53A through 53-I, inclusive,
to Article 35 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Evidence," to follow immediately after Section 53 thereof
and to be under the new subtitle "Foreign Money Judgments,"
enacting the Uniform Foreign Money-Judgments Recognition Act,
and relating generally to enforcement in courts of this State of
certain judgments of a foreign state granting or denying recovery
of a sum of money.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Sections 53A through 53-I, inclusive, be and they are
hereby added to Article 35 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Edition), title "Evidence," to follow immediately after Section 53
thereof, and to be under the new subtitle "Foreign Money Judgments,"
and to read as follows:

FOREIGN MONEY JUDGMENTS
53A. As used in this subtitle:

(1)  "foreign state" means any governmental unit other than the
United States, or any state, district, commonwealth, territory, insular
possession thereof, or the Panama Canal Zone, the Trust Territory of
the Pacific Islands, or the Ryukyu Islands;

(2)  "foreign judgment" means any judgment of a foreign state
granting or denying recovery of a sum of money, other than a judg-
ment for taxes, a fine or other penalty, or a judgment for support in
matrimonial or family matters.

53B.

This subtitle applies to any foreign judgment that is final and
conclusive and enforceable where rendered even though an appeal
therefrom is pending or it is subject to appeal.

53C.

Except as provided in Section 53D, a foreign judgment meeting the
requirements of Section 53B is conclusive between the parties to the
