THERETO, authorizing the county commissioners of Harford
County to establish, support and make certain annual appropria-
tions for a Commission on Human Relations for the county, and
generally relating thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 216B be and it is hereby added to the Code of Public
Local Laws of Harford County (1957 Edition), being Article 13 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Harford County,"
subtitle "County Commissioners," to follow immediately after Section
THE SEVERAL SECTIONS 216A thereof HERETOFORE ADDED
THERETO, and to read as follows:

216B.

(a)   The County Commissioners of Harford County are authorized
to establish a Commission on Human Relations for the county, whose
purpose it shall be to promote understanding and harmony of rela-
tionship between the people of the county through the study of the
nature and all causes of social friction and prejudice and the advance-
ment of means for the alleviation of these problems, and to otherwise
further the American ideal of equality and justice.

(b)   The composition, organization and particular functions of the
Commission shall be as the county commissioners may prescribe, pro-
vided, that the members of the Commission be representative of the
various segments of the community and shall serve without compensa-
tion, and that the Commission be required to file with the county com-
missioners no less than annually a comprehensive report covering its
activities.

(c)   The county commissioners are authorized to provide all ad-
ministrative support to the Commission necessary to properly effectu-
ate the provisions of this section, and to annually appropriate to this
end an amount not exceeding two hundred dollars ($200.).

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

AN ACT to add new Section 212A to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Harford County (1957 Edition, being Article 13 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Harford County," subtitle
