CHAPTER 135
(House Bill 346)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (m) of
Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and
1962 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in
Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," providing an increase in salary
for the Assistant State's Attorney in Harford County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (m) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition and 1962 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and At-
torneys in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
40.
(m) In Harford County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is seven
thousand dollars ($7,000).
(2) The State's Attorney, with the approval of the judge of the
Circuit Court for the county, may appoint an assistant State's attor-
ney, to serve at the State's Attorney's pleasure. The assistant State's
attorney's salary is [three] four thousand dollars [($3,000)]
($4,000). He has the same legal powers as the State's Attorney to
represent the State before grand juries and in the trial of criminal
proceedings.
(3) The Board of County Commissioners shall pay all reasonable
expenses for the conduct of the office of State's Attorney.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

(House Bill 400)
AN ACT to add new Section 52A to Article 2B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Alcoholic Beverages,"
subtitle "General Provisions on Issue of Licenses," to follow imme-
diately after Section 52 thereof, providing that no new license to
sell alcoholic beverages shall be issued in Harford County unless
for premises located in excess of 300 feet from any school or
church.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 52A be and it is hereby added to Article 2B of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Alcoholic Bev-
erages," subtitle "General Provisions on Issue of Licenses," to follow
immediately after Section 52 thereof, and to read as follows:
