of the police force to serve as members of the Detective Bureau,
and from time to time may re-assign the said member or members
back to duty with the regular police force and may designate other
members of the police force to be members of the Detective Bureau.
16-37.
The [Board of Police Examiners are] Police Commissioner is
hereby authorized to retire from active service:
(1) Any member of the Anne Arundel County Police Force who
becomes permanently incapacitated for police work by accident, dis-
ease or disability, which occurred or was contracted while in the ac-
tual performance of police duties and as a direct and natural result
therefrom;
(2) Any member of the Anne Arundel County Police Force who
has performed faithful service for not less than twenty years and
becomes permanently incapacitated for further duty as such member.
(3) Any member of the Anne Arundel County Police Force at his
request at any time after attaining the age of fifty and before attain-
ing the age of sixty-five, if he has performed faithful service therein
for not less than twenty years;
(4) Any member of the Anne Arundel County Police Force with-
out any request on his part, who has performed faithful service for
not less than twenty years. No member of said Anne Arundel County
Police Force shall remain in service after he has attained the age of
sixty-five.
16-43.
(a) The [Board of Police Examiners of Anne Arundel County
are] Police Commissioner is authorized to appoint such number of
"Special Officers", as [they] may [deem] be necessary for the proper
protection of waterfront communities and developments, places of
public amusement or recreation, and places of business, located in
Anne Arundel County. The jurisdiction of each of said "Special Of-
ficers" shall be confined to such community or development, places
of public amusement or recreation, and places of business in Anne
Arundel County, and for such period of time, as the [Board of Police
Examiners] Police Commissioner may designate. Each of said "Spe-
cial Officers" shall before assuming his duties and before taking his
oath of office, give to the [[Board of Police Examiners of Anne Arun-
del County] Police Commissioner and file with the Clerk of the Cir-
cuit Court for Anne Arundel County corporate bond, or personal
bond signed and executed by at least three (3) owners of real prop-
erty in Anne Arundel County, which said bond shall be in the amount
of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) and shall be subject to the ap-
proval of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County
and shall be conditioned upon the proper and faithful performance of
the duties of said "Special Officers". No "Special Officer" shall here-
after be appointed in Anne Arundel County, save in accordance with
the provisions of this sub-title, provided, however, that nothing in
the provisions of this sub-title shall apply or be taken to apply to the
Sixth Election District of Anne Arundel County or to the appoint-
ment or method of appointment of any officer, policeman or constable
in said Sixth Election District of Anne Arundel County.
