2080                           LAWS OF MARYLAND                      [CH. 896

CODE OF PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OF MARYLAND), title "Anne
Arundel County", sub-title "Chapter 16. Police", be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments; and that Sections
16-2, 16-3, 16-4, 16-5, 16-6, 16-7, 16-8, 16-10, 16-13, 16-14, 16-16,
16-17, 16-18, 16-19, 16-20, 16-22, 16-23, 16-24, 16-26, 16-27, 16-29,
16-30, 16-31, 16-32, 16-33, 16-34, 16-35, 16-36, 16-41, 16-42, 16-44
and 16-45 of the said Code and sub-title be and they are hereby re-
pealed; and that new Section 16-2 be and it is hereby enacted in lieu
of the Section 16-2 thereof, to stand in the place of the Section 16-2
so repealed; and that Sections 16-1, 16-2, 16-8.1, 16-9, 16-11, 16-12,
16-15, 16-21, 16-25, 16-28, 16-37, 16-38, 16-39, 16-40, 16-41A, AS
SAID SECTION WAS ENACTED BY CHAPTER 6 OF THE
FIRST EXTRA SESSION OF 1962, 16-43 and 16-46 be and they
are hereby renumbered and recodified as Sections 16-1 through 16 16,
16-17, inclusive, of the said Code and sub-title; and all to read as
follows:

16-1.

(a)   The Police Department of Anne Arundel County is hereby
created and established. It shall consist of :

(1)   The Anne Arundel County Police Force.

(2)   [The Board of Police Examiners.

(3)  ] Such other employees and agencies as shall be authorized by
the Board of County Commissioners.

(b)   The Headquarters of the Police Department FORCE of Anne
Arundel County and its various sub-stations shall be located in such
place or places as may be designated by the Board of [Police Exam-
iners, subject to the approval of the Board of] County Commis-
sioners. The Board of County Commissioners are hereby authorized
to construct or acquire the property or facilities necessary for such
headquarters or sub-stations.

16-2.

The head of the Police Department FORCE shall be the Police
Commissioner, who shall be appointed by the Governor of Maryland
on June 1, 1963,
JANUARY 1, 1964, for a term of six years or until
his successor has been appointed and has qualified. The Governor
shall appoint the Police Commissioner from a list of not more than
three (8) qualified persons nominated by a committee, which shall
select its own chairman, and which shall consist of the following
persons:

(a)  The State Senator from Anne Arundel County.

(b)  Chairman of the Anne Arundel County Delegation in the
House of Delegates.

(c)  One (1) attorney selected by the Anne Arundel County Bar
Association.

(d) The senior Judge of the Circuit Court of Anne Arundel

County.

(D) THE DULY ELECTED VICE PRESIDENT OF THE
FIFTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT OF THE MARYLAND STATE BAR
ASSOCIATION.
