[(b)] (2) The trial magistrate of the county shall designate one or
more justices of the peace of the county to serve as a committing
magistrate when no committing magistrate is available, and during
such period the justice of the peace shall be qualified to carry out the
duties of the committing magistrate and while acting as a committing
magistrate the justice of the peace shall receive compensation for the
period so acting at the rate that the committing magistrate would
receive for such period.

(e) In Anne Arundel County there shall be such number of com-
mitting magistrates with such compensation, powers and duties as
are provided in the public local laws thereof.

108.

(2) [There shall be five trial magistrates, one of whom shall sit in
Annapolis and receive an annual salary of $7,500.00; one of whom
shall sit in Ferndale and receive an annual salary of $6,500.00; one
of whom shall sit in the first precinct of the third election district
and receive an annual salary of $4,000.00; one of whom shall sit in
Edgewater and receive an annual salary of $4,000.00; and one of
whom shall sit in Odenton and receive an annual salary of $3,500.00.

The trial magistrate at Annapolis shall sit on Mondays from 9:00
A.M. to 4 P.M., Wednesdays from 10 A.M. to 12 noon; Tuesdays
and Fridays from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M., Thursdays from 10 A.M. to
3 P.M. and 7 P.M. to 9 P.M., and on Saturdays from 10 A.M. to
12 o'clock noon, and at such other times during the week as the public
business may require.

The trial magistrate at Ferndale shall sit on Mondays from 9 A.M.
to 4 P.M., on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.,
on Saturdays from 10 A.M. to 12 o'clock noon, and on Tuesdays and
Fridays from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M., and at such other times during the
week as the public business may require.

The trial magistrate at Edgewater, Odenton, and in the first pre-
cinct of the third election district shall sit on Mondays from 10 A.M.
to 2 P.M., on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7 P.M. to
9 P.M., and on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 A.M. to 12 o'clock
noon. The five trial magistrates shall be entitled to fifteen days' va-
cation each year and shall also be entitled to fifteen days' sick leave
each year, said vacation and sick leave not to be accumulated if not
used during the year it accrues.] There shall be a People's Court at
Anne Arundel County with such number of judges and having such
salaries as shall be provided in the local laws thereof.

109.

One constable at large may be appointed by the county commis-
sioners of the several counties for each trial magistrate, and each of
said constables at large shall receive, in lieu of fees in civil and
criminal cases, an annual salary of $600.00; but in Allegany County,
the County Commissioners shall appoint two constables at large for
the two trial magistrates who sit for the trial of cases in the City
of Cumberland; each of the said constables shall receive an annual
salary of not less than three thousand dollars ($3,000); and such
mileage as the County Commissioners shall allow, and the County
Commissioners of Allegany County may increase the compensation of
said constables or appoint additional constables at large for trial
