J. MILLARD TAWES, Governor                     1983

Appointments to the board shall be for a term of four years, the first
appointments to become effective
[The initial appointees to such
board shall be the three members of the preceding Board of Electrical
Examiners and Supervisors of Anne Arundel County, and their terms
shall expire] at midnight of the Sunday immediately preceding the
first Monday of the month of May JULY in 1963. [Thereafter
appointments to such board shall be for terms of four years.]
Should any vacancy occur from any cause during the term of any
board member, the Governor shall appoint a qualified successor to
complete the unexpired balance of such term. Upon the presentation
of satisfactory evidence in open hearing, the Governor shall have
full power to remove any member of the board for reasons of in-
competence or improper conduct. THOSE MEMBERS OF THE
BOARD INCUMBENT AS OF JANUARY 1, 1963, SHALL HOLD
OFFICE UNTIL MIDNIGHT ON THE SUNDAY IMMEDIATELY
PRECEDING THE FIRST MONDAY OF THE MONTH OF JULY
IN 1967; WHEN THEIR SUCCESSORS SHALL BE APPOINTED.
THERE SHALL ALWAYS BE AT LEAST 2 LICENSED ELEC-
TRICIANS ON SUCH BOARD AND IF A VACANCY OCCURS
IN ONE OF THE MEMBERSHIPS APPOINTED AT THE SUG-
GESTION OF THE MASTER ELECTRICIAN'S ASSOCIATION,
THEN THE VACANCY SHALL BE FILLED FROM A LIST OF
TWO PERSONS RECOMMENDED BY THE MASTER ELEC-
TRICIAN'S ASSOCIATION.

EACH MEMBER SHALL BE PAID BY WAY OF COMPENSA-
TION AN ANNUAL SALARY NOT IN EXCESS OF FIVE HUN-
DRED ($500.00) DOLLARS AS DETERMINED BY THE BOARD,
PAYABLE MONTHLY; PROVIDED THAT FOR HIS CLERICAL
AND SECRETARIAL SERVICES THE SECRETARY MAY BE
PAID SUCH REASONABLE ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION AS
THE BY-LAWS OF THE BOARD MAY STIPULATE; PROVIDED,
FURTHER, THAT THE SALARIES OF THE MEMBERS SHALL
IN NO EVENT BE PAID BY OR BECOME A CHARGE AGAINST
THE STATE OF MARYLAND OR ITS TREASURY.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared to
be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preserva-
tion of the public health and safety, and having been passed by a yea

and nay vote supported by three fifths of the members elected to each
of the two houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect
from the date of its passage.

SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
SHALL TAKE EFFECT ON JUNE 1, 1963.
