AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 18-1 and
18-2 of the Anne Arundel County Code (1957 Edition, being Ar-
ticle 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title
"Anne Arundel County," subtitle "Schools," relating to the use
of public school buses by children attending parochial schools and
relating to the payment of the costs incurred in the transportation
of private school students in Anne Arundel County and the estab-
lishment of new routes for the transportation of such students.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 18-1 and 18-2 of the Anne Arundel County Code
(1957 Edition, being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Anne Arundel County," subtitle "Schools," be
and are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, to read
as follows:
18-1.
[All children, who attend any parochial schools in the county,
which schools do not receive state aid, and who reside on or along
or near to the public highways of the county, on which there is
now or hereafter operated a public school bus or conveyance pro-
vided by the board of education of the county for transporting
children to and from the public schools of the county, shall be en-
titled to transportation on such buses or conveyances as now are
or may be hereafter established, operated or provided by the board
of education of the county for transporting children to and from the
public schools of the county; and the same shall be provided for
them by the board of education of the county, subject to the con-
ditions hereinafter set forth, from a point on the public highways
nearest to or most accessible to their respective homes to a point on
the public highways nearest or most accessible to their respec-
tive schools, without changing the routes of the buses or con-
veyances now or hereafter established by the board of education
of the county for transporting children to and from the public
schools and such transportation shall be provided by the board
of education, as aforesaid, for all the children attending schools
described herein, upon the same terms and conditions as now
are or as may be hereafter established by the board of education
of the county for children now attending public schools.] Whenever
there are children attending a, school SCHOOLS other than a public
school, which schools do not receive state aid, except such school
SCHOOLS as is ARE operated for profit in whole or in part, and such
children are living more than one mile from the school house they
regularly attend, the board of education of the county may SHALL
make rules and contracts for the transportation of such children to
