The Chief or Deputy of the Fire Prevention Bureau or Arson
Bureau in service on June 1, 1968, shall receive credit for any service
as Chief or Deputy of the Fire Prevention Bureau or Arson Bureau
prior to June 1, 1963, to the same extent as though such Chief or
Deputy had service as Chief or Deputy of the Fire Prevention Bureau
or Arson Bureau after July 1, 1954.
30-12.3.
Where any Chief or Deputy of the Fire Prevention Bureau or
Arson Bureau who retired shall die, the amount of the pension he
was receiving at the time of his death shall be paid to his widow,
and upon her death or remarriage, the pension shall be paid to any
of his unmarried children under the age of nineteen as a group, each
child becoming ineligible to receive any part of the pension upon
reaching the age of nineteen years. If the wife has predeceased
the retired Chief or Deputy of the Fire Prevention Bureau or Arson
Bureau at the time of his death and he leaves at his death an un-
married child or children under the age of nineteen years, they shall
receive the pension as stated until reaching the age of nineteen years.
30-124.
The County Commissioners shall pay annually to the widow of any
Chief or Deputy of the Fire Prevention Bureau or Arson Bureau,
who is killed while in the active performance of his duties the
annual salary received by him at the time of death. If the widow
remarries or dies, leaving an unmarried child or children under the
age of nineteen years, the annual salary shall be paid to the child or
children as a group, each child becoming ineligible to receive any
part of the annual salary upon reaching his or her nineteenth birth-
day. If the wife has predeceased the Chief or Deputy of the Fire
Prevention Bureau or Arson Bureau at the time of his death and he
leaves at his death an unmarried child or children under the age of
nineteen years, they shall receive the annual salary as stated, until
reaching the age of nineteen years.
30-12.5.
The widow of any Chief or Deputy of the Fire Prevention Bureau
or Arson Bureau who after having served his probationary period,
shall die from natural causes, shall receive fifty per centum (50%)
of his monthly salary at the time of his death. Upon her death or
remarriage the salary shall be paid to any of his unmarried children
under the age of nineteen years as a group, each child becoming
ineligible to receive any part of the salary upon reaching the age
of nineteen years. If the wife has predeceased the Chief or Deputy
of the Fire Prevention Bureau or Arson Bureau at the time of his
death, and he leaves at his death an unmarried child or children
under the age of nineteen years, they shall receive the annual salary
as stated until reaching the age of nineteen years. Notwithstanding
the above provisions, if, at the death of the widow, there is any child
or children of such deceased Chief or Deputy Chief of the Fire Pre-
vention Bureau or Arson Bureau totally and permanently disabled,
the salary shall be paid to such child or children for the life of the
child or children.
