navigable waters of the State of Maryland [, except that within the
limits of Anne Arundel County the Authority shall have such juris-
diction only as to that portion of the southerly shore of the Patapsco
River, including the meanders and tributaries thereof, which lies
westwardly and upstream from the mouth of the tributary stream
known generally as Cox Creek]; and except that the Authority shall
not have any jurisdiction whatsoever within the boundaries of Talbot
County; and except that the Authority shall not have any jurisdiction
whatsoever within the boundaries of Queen Anne's County.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 801
(House Bill 835)

AN ACT to add new Sections 3A-1 through 3A-21, inclusive, to the
Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel County (1957 Edition),
being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Anne Arundel County," to follow immediately after Section 3-60
thereof and to be under the new subtitle "Chapter 3A. Bail Bonds"
relating to regulation of persons engaged in the business and activi-
ty of becoming surety for compensation in criminal cases, as herein
defined, creating a board of bail bond license commissioners of Anne
Arundel County, and relating generally to the appointment, mem-
bership, powers and duties of such board, and to the business and
activity of becoming surety for compensation in criminal cases in.
Anne Arundel County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Sections 3A-1 through 3A-21, inclusive, be and they are
hereby added to the Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel
County (1957 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County," to follow immedi-
ately after Section 3-60 thereof and to be under the new subtitle
"Chapter 3A. Bail Bonds," and to read as follows:

3A-1.

The business and/or activity of becoming surety for compensation
upon bonds in criminal cases is impressed with a public interest.

3A-2.

(a)   The word "bondsman," as used in this subtitle, means any
person, firm or corporation engaged in the business and/or activity
of becoming surety for compensation on bonds in criminal cases or
any agent, employee or representative of any such person, firm or
corporation.

(b)   The word "bond" or "bonds," wherever used in this subtitle,
means a corporate or individual bond or the placement of any form
of collateral, including cash.
