CHAPTER 625
(House Bill 654)

AN ACT to repeal Section 100 of Article 2B of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Alcoholic Beverages," sub-
title "Hours and Days for Sale," and to enact new Section 100 in
lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the Section so repealed, to pro-
vide for the sale of wine or liquor in Howard County on Sunday by

the holders of a Class D, Beer, Wine and Liquor License (On

Sale)restaurants, taverns, et ceteraand by the holders of Class
C Beer, Wine and Liquor Licenses (On Sale) clubs, and providing
for an additional fee for those establishments staying open, and

making such provisions subject to referendum VIDE FOR THE
ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL SUNDAY LICENSES TO THE HOLD-
ERS OF CERTAIN BEER, WINE AND LIQUOR LICENSES IN
HOWARD COUNTY, RELATING TO HOURS OF SALE UNDER
THIS LICENSE AND SUBMITTING THIS ACT TO A REFER-
ENDUM.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 100 of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Hours and
Days for Sale," be and it is hereby repealed and that new Section 100
be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of
the Section so repealed and to read as follows:

100.

Except as otherwise provided in this Section no sale of beer, wine
or liquor shall be permitted in Howard County between the hours of

1:00 A.M. Sunday and 6:00 AM. the following Monday.

Those holders of Class "C" Beer, Wine and Liquor Licenses (on

sale—Clubs) and Class "D," Beer, Wine, and Liquor Licenses (on

salerestaurants, taverns, etc.) desiring to sell beer, wine or liquor
on Sunday, other than times in the aforegoing paragraph, may, upon
payment of an annual fee of two hundred dollars ($200.) in addition
to any other fees payable in this
Article, and obtaining a proper

license therefor, sell beer, wine and liquor in accordance with their
licenses between the hours of 1:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M. Sunday.

In no event shall beer, wine or liquor be sold in Howard County

between the hours of 10:00 P.M. Sunday and 6:00 AM. the following
Monday.

IN HOWARD COUNTY, NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER
PROVISIONS OF THIS ARTICLE, HOLDERS OF CLASS B, C
AND D BEER, WINE AND LIQUOR LICENSES MAY BE ISSUED
A SPECIAL SUNDAY LICENSE FOR SALES ON SUNDAY UPON
PAYMENT OF A FEE OF $200 THEREFOR. SUCH LICENSE
AND THE LICENSEES THEREUNDER SHALL BE SUBJECT
TO ALL LAWS, RULES AND REGULATIONS APPLICABLE IN
THE COUNTY TO THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES,
NOT INCONSISTENT WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SEC-
TION. SUCH LICENSE SHALL AUTHORIZE SALES ONLY BE-
TWEEN THE HOURS OF 12 O'CLOCK NOON AND 10 P.M. ON
SUNDAY.
