after Section 296 thereof, to require motor vehicles registered in the
State to be equipped with seat belts and to provide standards for
seat belts.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 296A be and it is hereby added to Article 66½ of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Motor Ve-
hicles," subtitle "Operation of Vehicles on UPON Highways," to
follow immediately after Section 296 thereof, and to read as follows:

296A

(a)   Every motor vehicle registered in this State and manu-
factured or assembled after June 1, 1964, shall be equipped with two
sets of seat belts on the front seat of the vehicle. It shall be unlawful
to sell or offer for sale any vehicle in violation of this Section.

(b)  For the purpose of this Section only, "motor vehicle'' shall
mean any vehicle intended for use as a private passenger vehicle and
shall not include any motor bus, truck or taxicab.

(c)  For the purpose of this Section only, "seat belt" shall mean
any belt, strap, harness or like device approved by the Commissioner
of Motor Vehicles
. No seat belt shall be sold or offered for sale for
use in connection with the operation of a motor vehicle in this State
after June 1, 1964, unless it has been approved by the Commissioner
of Motor Vehicles.
MEETS THE CURRENT STANDARDS AND
SPECIFICATIONS OF THE SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE EN-
GINEERS APPLICABLE TO SUCH BELTS.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 620
(House Bill 607)

AN ACT to add new Section 569 (y) to Article 43 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Health," subtitle "Milk
and Milk Products," to follow immediately after Section 569 (x)
thereof, providing a definition of Coffee and Cereal Dairy Mixture,
under the State Health Laws.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 569 (y) be and it is hereby added to Article 43 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Health,"
subtitle "Milk and Milk Products," to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 569 (x) thereof, and to read as follows:

569.

(y) "Coffee and Cereal Dairy Mixture" shall mean and include
a mixture of milk or skim milk and cream having a milk fat con-
tent of not less than 5% nor more than 8%. Such mixture may
