Retirement System.
AN ACT TO REPEAL AND RE-ENACT, WITH AMENDMENTS,
SECTION 3 (6) OF ARTICLE 73B OF THE ANNOTATED CODE
OF MARYLAND (1957 EDITION), TITLE "PENSIONS," SUB-
TITLE "IN GENERAL," AND TO REPEAL AND RE-ENACT,
WITH AMENDMENTS, SECTION 110 (7) OF ARTICLE 77 OF
SAID CODE, TITLE "PUBLIC EDUCATION," SUBTITLE
"TEACHERS' CERTIFICATES, SALARIES AND PENSIONS,"
SUBHEADING "TEACHERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM," TO
PERMIT FORMER MEMBERS OF THE TEACHERS' RETIRE-
MENT SYSTEM WHO HAD WITHDRAWN THEIR ACCUMU-
LATED CONTRIBUTIONS TO REDEPOSIT THE CONTRIBU-
TIONS WITH INTEREST AND RECEIVE SERVICE CREDIT
FOR SUCH IN THE STATE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT
SYSTEM; AND TO PERMIT FORMER MEMBERS OF THE
EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM WHO HAD WITH-
DRAWN THEIR ACCUMULATED CONTRIBUTIONS TO RE-
DEPOSIT THE CONTRIBUTIONS WITH INTEREST, AND
RECEIVE SERVICE CREDIT FOR SUCH IN THE TEACHERS'
RETIREMENT SYSTEM.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3 (6) of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Pensions," subtitle "In General," fee
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows: AND THAT SECTION 110 (7) OF ARTICLE 77 OF
SAID CODE, TITLE "PUBLIC EDUCATION," SUBTITLE
"TEACHERS' CERTIFICATES, SALARIES AND PENSIONS,"
SUBHEADING "TEACHERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM," BE
AND THEY ARE HEREBY REPEALED AND RE-ENACTED,
WITH AMENDMENTS, TO READ AS FOLLOWS:

(6)—Termination of Membership.
Should any member in any period of six consecutive years after
last becoming a member be absent from service more than two
years, or should he withdraw all or part of his accumulated contri-
butions, or should he become a beneficiary or die, he shall thereupon
cease to be a member; provided, however, that any member who was
absent from service for more than two years on account of the
transfer or lease to the United States of the facility or property
where said member was employed and who continued to work at
the same place as an employee of the United States until the return
of the property to the State after the war, when he again became
an employee of the State, shall be entitled to credit for all service
as an employee of the State before he became an employee of the
United States as hereinbefore described and his prior service cer-
tificate shall again become effective as if he had not ceased to be
an employee of the State.
Any member who had terminated membership in the Teachers'
Retirement System may upon APPROVAL OF THE BOARD AND
UPON deposit into the Employees' Retirement System of the accumu-
