business, but not otherwise, the Commissioner may authorize tem-
porary appointment as prescribed in Section 22 of this article.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

AN ACT to repeal and re enact, with amendments, Section 9 (e)
and (f) of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Edition), title "Elections", sub-title "Supervisors of Elections and
Employees", requiring election judges to attend a school of instruc-
tion before taking office and to receive compensation for such
instruction.
AN ACT TO ADD NEW SECTION 9 (K) TO ARTICLE 33 OF
THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND (1957 EDITION),
TITLE "ELECTIONS", SUB-TITLE "SUPERVISORS OF
ELECTIONS AND EMPLOYEES", TO FOLLOW IMMEDIATE-
LY AFTER SECTION 9 (J) THEREOF, TO REQUIRE ELEC-
TION JUDGES IN ALLEGANY COUNTY TO RECEIVE
COURSES OF INSTRUCTION IN THEIR DUTIES, AND PRO-
VIDING COMPENSATION AND EXPENSES WHILE TAKING
SUCH COURSES.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 9 (e) and (f) of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Elections", sub title "Supervisors of
Elections and Employees", be and they are hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
THAT NEW SECTION 9 (K) BE AND IT IS HEREBY ADDED
TO ARTICLE 33 OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND
(1957 EDITION), TITLE "ELECTIONS", SUB-TITLE "SUPER-
VISORS OF ELECTIONS AND EMPLOYEES", TO FOLLOW IM-
MEDIATELY AFTER SECTION 9 (J) THEREOF, AND TO
READ AS FOLLOWS:

(e) Following their appointment and following a course of in-
struction in their duties administered by the board of supervisors,
of elections in the county or in Baltimore City, as the case may be.
Each such person shall take and subscribe to the oath prescribed in
Article I, Section 6 of the Constitution of Maryland. Said oath shall
be taken and subscribed to before one of the members of the board
of supervisors, and commissions shall thereupon be issued to such
judges. In the discretion of the board of supervisors in any county,
such oath may be taken and subscribed to upon forms to be supplied
by said board before any officer authorized by law to administer
oaths; and upon receipt of any such form, duly executed, the board
