quired by such other state from residents of this State transacting a
like business in such other state.

(c). The Commissioner is further authorized to enter into recip-
rocal agreements with the appropriate official of any other state
waiving the written examination of any applicant resident in such
other state, provided:

(1)   That a written examination is required of applicants for a
license in such other state;

(2)   That the appropriate official of such other state certifies that
the applicant holds a currently valid license as an agent or broker
in such other state and either passed such written examination or
was the holder of an agent's or broker's license prior to the time such
written examination was required;

(3)   That the applicant has no place of business within this State
in the transaction of business as an agent or broker;

(4)   That in such other state, a resident of this State is privileged
to procure an agent's or broker's license upon the foregoing con-
ditions.

(d) The references to "state" in this section, other than to "this
State", shall be deemed to include the Provinces of Canada.

172. Temporary Licenses.

(a) The Commissioner may IN HIS DISCRETION issue tempo-
rary licenses as agent, broker or solicitor OR BROKER to an indi-
vidual otherwise qualified therefor without regard to educational,
experience or examination requirements in the following cases:

(1)   To the surviving spouse or next of kin or to the adminis-
trator or executor, or , UPON APPROVAL OF THE COMMIS-
SIONER, TO
the appointee of such administrator or executor, of a
deceased agent, broker or solicitor OR BROKER.

(2)   To the spouse, next of kin, employee or legal guardian of an
agent, broker or solicitor OR BROKER who is mentally or physically
disabled.

(3)   To an employee of a firm, or officer or employee of a corpora-
tion, upon the death or disability of an individual licensee.

(4)   To the designee of a licensed agent, broker or solicitor OR
BROKER entering upon active service in the armed forces of the
United States of America.

(5)   To any applicant for the same kind or kinds of insurance, or
subdivisions thereof, for which he has previously been licensed in
another state for at least one year within 3 years next preceding the
date of application.

(6)   To an applicant who will actually collect the premiums on
or solicit applications for weekly premium industrial life AND/OR
HEALTH insurance during the period of such temporary license;
and such temporary license will grant the applicant, during the
period that is in force, the right to collect premiums on and solicit
applications for weekly premium industrial life insurance, ordinary
life insurance and individual health insurance;
