there to Answer unto Such things as Shall be Objected against him on
his Lordships behalf And in the mean time to be of good behavour parti:
:cularly to Thomas Clay Then this Recoge. to be void Else to remain in

Kent County fst Be it remembered that on the thirteenth day of
Octobr. Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred thirty and eight Personally Appd.
John Stevenson before me the Subscriber One of his Lordships Justs.
of the peace for the afd County and Acknowledged himself to be Indebted
unto his Lordship the right honourable the Lord Propry of the province
of Maryld. in the sum of five pounds Currt. money of the province
afd to be made and Leveyed on his body goods & Chattles Lands and
Tenements for the Use of his said Lordship his heirs & Successors
With Condition to this recoge. that John Stevenson do make his
Personall Appearance before the the Justices of Our next County
Court to be held at Our Court house in the Town of Chester in said
County on the third tuesday of Novemr. next then & there to give
in behalf of his Lordship against the afd Robert Jackson Then
this recoge. to be void Else to remain in full force and Virtue in Law
Kent County fst The Jurors for the right honrble the Lord
Propry that now is for the body of Kent County afd upon their Oath
do Present that Robert Jackson late of Saint Pauls parish in
the County afd Gentleman the fourteenth day of Octobr. in the year
of Our Lord seventeen hundred thirty & eight at the parish afd in the
County afd and within the Jurisdiction of this Court with force and
Arms in & upon a Certain Thomas Clay in the peace of God and of
the same Lord Propry then and there being an Assault did make &
him the same Thomas did beat bound & evilly treat so that of his
life it was greatly despaired & other harms to him the said Thoms.
then & there did to the great damage of the same Thomas & against
the peace of the said Lord Propry his good rule & Government &c

On the Back of the afd Indictmt. was Indorsed as fol. Vizt.
           True Bill pr Matthew Howard Foreman
And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court house in
the Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday of Novemr.
being the fourteenth day of said month in the year of Our Lord
seventeen hundred thirty and eight Cometh the afd Lord propry by
Daniel Dulany his Attorney and prayeth that the afd Robert to
the Action afd may Answer                  And the afd Robert in
his Proper Person comes and defends the force & injury when
&c And saith that he cannot Gainsay the Indictment afd
