made & Leveyed on his body goods & Chattles Lands & Tenemts. for the
use of his said Lordship his heirs and Successors With Condition to this
recogce. that Doctr. Alexr. Adair do keep this County harmless from
the maintenance of the afd Henry Anderson Then this recognize.
to be void Else to remain in full force in Law            Jams Smith Clk Kt. Coty

His Ldp    Command was given to the sher. of Kent County on
agt    the ninteenth day of Augst. in the twenty fourth year
Mary Anderson    of Our Ldps Domn. &c in the year of Our Lord One
thousand seven hundred & thirty eight that he should take Mary
Anderson late of Saint pauls parish in the County afd Spinster if she
should be found in his Bailwick & him safe keep so that he have her
body before the Justices of Our next County Court to be held at Our
Court house in the Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday
of Novemr. next to Answer unto a certain Indictmt. of fornication &c
And that the said sher. have at the time & place afd the said Writt &c
And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court house in the
Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday of Novemr. being
the fourteenth day of said month in the year of Our Lord seventeen
hundred thirty & eight Cometh Simon Wilmer Gent. Sher. of Kent
County & makes return thereof to the Court here thereon Indorsed as
fol. Vizt. Cepi Corpus pr. Simon Wilmer sher. Kt. Coty Court
Kent County fst The Jurors for the right honourable the Lord
propry that now is for the body of Kent County afd upon their Oath do
present that Mullatto Mary Anderson Servt. to Doctr. Alexr. Adair
late of St. pauls parish in the County afd Spinster the first day of
May in the year of Our Lord seventeen hundred thirty & eight at
the Parish afd in the County afd & within the Jurisdiction of this Court
did Commit fornication with a certain person to the Jurors afd unknown
and did permit the same unknown person then & there to have car:
:nal knowledge of her body & to beget then & there a Bastard child
on the body of her the same Mary Anderson to the high displeasure
of Almighty God to the evil Example of all others in such case offending
Contrary to the peace of the said Lord propry his good rule & Governmt.
and against the form of the Act of Assembly in such cas lately
made and provided &c.            Test Wm. Mc.Clean
On the Back of the afd Indictment was Indorsed as fol. Vizt.
           Billa Vera pr John Brown Foreman
