His Lordship    Wee the grand Jurors for Kent County
agt    do present Benjamin Palmer for
Benja. Palmer    Assault & Battery on the body of David
Alexander                  John Brown foreman
Kent County The Jurors of the Right honourable the Lord
propry that now is for the body of Kent County afd upon their
Oath do present that Benjamin Palmer late of Shrewsbury
Parish in the County afd planter the first day of August
in the Year of Our Lord seventeen hundred thirty and
eight at the parish afd in the County afd in the County afd
and within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon
a Certain David Alexander in the peace of God and of
the same Lord propry then and there being with force &
Arms an Assault did make and the Same David then and
there did beat wound and evilly treat so that of his life
it was greatly dispaired and other harms to him the
said David then and there did to the great Damage of
the said David and against the peace of the said Lord
Propry his good rule and Government &ca.

On the Back of the afd Indictment was Indors'd as
fol. Vizt.       Billa Vera pr John Brown foreman
And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court
house in the Town of Chester in said County on the third
tuesday of August being the fifteenth day of said month
in the Year of Our Lord seventeen hundred thirty & eight
cometh the afd Lord propry by Tench Francis his Attry
and prayeth that the afd Benjamin to the Indictment
afd might Answer
And the afd Benjamin in his proper person comes
and defends the force and injury when &c. And saith
that he cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd
against him brought nor can he say but that he is
