Case lately made and provided &c.       Francis
On the Back of the afd Indictment was Indorsed as
fol. Vizt. A True Bill Chrisr. Hall form.
And now here to wit at Kent county at the Court house
in the Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday
of Augst. being the fifteenth day of said month in the
year of Our Lord Seventeen hundred thirty & Eight
cometh the afd Lord propry. by his Attorney afd And
prayeth that the afd Mary to the Indictment afd
might Answer
And the afd Mary in her proper person comes and
defends the force and injury when &c. and saith that she
cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against
her brought nor can she say but that she is guilty
of the premisses afd above upon her Imposed as by
the Indictment afd it is Alledged and thereof
Submits to the Court
Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit
at Kent County afd at the Court house in the Town of Chester
in said County on the third tuesday of August being the
fifteenth day of said month in the year of Our Lord seven
teen hundred thirty & eight that the afd Mary have on
her bare back five lashes well laid on and the blood
to Appear As a punishment for the Crime afd Also
it is Considered by the Justices afd at the time and place
afd that the afd Mary pay the sum of three hundred
fourty four pounds of tobacco Costs Accrueing on the
premisses afd to the Officers of this Court &c.
Ordered by this Court here that Wiliam Harris
Gentleman sherr. of Kent County take into his Custody
