August Court 1739

by the Justices here to wit at Kent County Court at the
Court house in the Town of Chester in said County on the
third tuesday of August being the twenty first day of said
month in the year of Our Lord seventeen hundred thirty & nine
that the afd Margarett English receive at the publick
whiping post of the County afd nine Lashes well laid on and
the blood to Appear as a punishment for Committing the
fornication Indictmt. afd Specified (According to Act of Assembly)
Also it is Considered that the said Margrett pay the sum of
four hundred pounds                  pounds of tobacco costs
Accrueing on the premisses afd to the Severall Officers of
this Court &c                  It is Also Considered by the
Court here that the sher. of Kent County take the afd Margt.
into his Custody and Execute the punishment in the Judgt.
afd Specified And afterwards to bring her into Court again
of which said precept the said sher. to wit Simon Wilmer Gent.
high sher. of the County afd makes return on the day & year
last mentioned that he hath Executed the punishment in the
Judgmt. afd And have her the same Margarett before the
Court
Ordered by this Court here that Edward Worrell (Master
to the afd Margarett) deliver her up to the Court at the Expiratn
of her time of Servitude there to make Satisfaction to the
Same Court for the fees Accrueing on the premisses afd
according to Act of Assembly &c                  Jams Smith Cl.

His Lordship    And now here to wit at Kent Coty
agt    Court at the Court house in the Town
William Graves    of Chester in said County on the third
tuesday of August being the twenty first day of said month in
the year of Our Lord seventeen hundred thirty & nine cometh the
afd William Graves in his proper person & prayeth
                                                               last Court
that his & his Suretys recognizance taken at ^ afd for his
Appearance to this Court may be Discharged
Ordered by this Court here that William Graves
James Ringgold & James Wright their recognizances
